Total commemorative banknotes issued is under 1,500 pieces. If you have achieved any figures close to this, then you are doing extremely well, as many of the older commemorative notes are hard to find even in poor conditions.

Opinion: Many collectors of commemorative banknotes would have come across with those Somaliland sets overprinted with gold and silver texts with the following wordings - 5th Anniversary of Independence 18 May 1996 [Sanad Gurade 5ee Gobanimadda 18 May 1996]. I believe these are "home made" (or fake) and not authorised by the central bank. My argument is simple. No central bank would have issued an overprint commemorative banknote that the texts are so large that it would cover the two signatures on the note as well as part of the serial numbers. Even if these are genuine notes, then these could be issued as souvenir sheets and not as legal tender. As I said before, this is my opinion. If you have paid top dollars for these, please think about my argument. There is always a sucker around the corner, including me of course!

All comments are most welcome but it has to be subjects related to banknotes or banknotes collection. If not, it will not be approved. Thanks

...Transnistria - 2017 Great October Socialist Revolution 100th Year Anniversary

Transnistria is officially known as the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. However they are also sometimes referred to (spelling) as Transdniestr, Trans-Dniestr, Transdniestria or Pridnestrovie.

A set of two Commemorative notes released by the Transnistrian Republic Bank on 03.11.2017 to celebrate the 100th year of the Great October Socialist Revolution (1917 to 2017). The Russian Revolution started on 08.03.1917 and ended on 07.11.1917. The Revolution marked the end of the Romanov dynasty. Needless to say, Transnistria is pro Russia even though they do not share a common border with Russia. The nearest distance between Transnistria and Russia is about 800+ kilometers (excluding Crimea). The denominations for the 2 notes are the 1 and 5 Rubles. A total of 5,000 sets were issued with 2017 sets sold in a folder. The designs for both notes are from the 2007 series but with the addition of the USSR Order of the Revolution added to the design of the notes. With such a small issue, it was not intended for general circulation.

*Front: Russian General Alexander Vassilyevich Suvorav (1730-1800). Both notes are printed with the commemorative logo: 100 ЛЕТ ОКТЯЬРСКОИ РЕВОЛЮЦИИ (100 Years of October Revolution).
*Back One Ruble: Kitskansk Bridgehead memorial;
*Back Five Rubles: Kwint Distillery administrative building

Prefix OP - October Revolution (ОКТЯЬРСКОИ РЕВОЛЮЦИИ)

Transnistria is a disputed territory with the Moldova government and is not recognised by any of the United Nations member states. Its currency has no value outside it's territory. Like all previous issues, there are no signatures on the notes.
